  >  Europe   >  Pisa and Tuscany day 1

This weekend we have another AUR trip to Pisa, Tuscany, and Florence. We woke up at 5:00am again to get to the University by 7:00am. We then had about a five-hour bus ride to Pisa.

When we got there we had a two hour guided tour. My friends and I skipped out on the tour because there really isn’t much to see there for two hours. We saw the leaning tower and the two other buildings that are there and then went to McDonalds. The McDonalds in Europe are so different from the United States. I got a macaroon there and it was actually pretty good. I also got fries simply to have ketchup because I MISS IT. I know it probably sounds bad we are in Italy and going to McDonalds, but Pisa is a tourist trap and everything there is overpriced and not real quality.

We then walked around for a bit, but honestly there isn’t much to see in Pisa. We decided to just sit at a restaurant and chill for the rest of the time to enjoy each others company because we had five hours to kill. I fulfilled my goal of having pizza in Pisa.

We then got back on the bus and went to our hotel which was in Tuscany, but you wouldn’t know that. Our hotel was in kind of a random area there wasn’t much around. They were rooms of four and let me know why I chose my bed first and chose the COTE. Very stupid move, I should really pay attention more. We showered and got ready for another hotel dinner. It was a little better than the Sorrento dinners but still would 4/10 recommend.

After dinner we just played some cards and went to bed because we were so tired and had to wake up early again the next day.

All in all not my favorite day here, but seeing the tower was a bucket list thing for sure. If you are going to Italy I would say Pisa is definitely a town that you could skip.
