Hi guys. Waking up this morning and saying goodbye to Sorrento is so hard. All I could think is I want to come back as soon as possible. I would love to come back with family or friends and stay at a hotel with sea access. One day I’ll make it happen.

This morning we got some breakfast at the hotel and then headed on the bus. Today is a day I have been excited for because we are going to Pompeii. In elementary school I did a project on Mount Vesuvius and I was so intrigued. I remember reading a Magic Treehouse book about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and what happened to Pompeii. Natural disasters are so interesting to me and I think it is because humans have nothing to do with them. It is scary to think about the fact that our world can be so easily distroyed. Not something I like to think about a lot. I remember having nightmares everynight during our valcano chapter in middle school.

We were sweating ALL DAY at Pompeii. It is hard being on tours in the hot sun for a few hours. Our tour guide wasn’t the best, but I still learned some. Pretty much if you don’t know anything about Pompeii it was a port town that was left ambandoned after Mount Vesuvius errupted and left everyone dead. There was no lava, but it was the gas that killed them. Everything was then covered in ash and they are still uncovering parts of the city. They have found many artifacts and it is amazing what great condition some things such as the mosiacs are in.

After our tour we had a couple hours to do whatever so our leader, Tom, took us around to a few places we missed. I really think if you are ever in Southern Italy you should definetly tour Pompeii.

Everything is as though it is a giant museum so once you exit out there are all these tourist booths. We looked around at those until the bus came to pick us up. After the bus and lugging our vera bradley duffles back to the apartments we went grocery shopping, made dinner, did some homework, and crashed.
