Florence and Tuscany day 2

Hi! We woke up bright and early again today. I miss what it feels like to sleep in, but oh well no time to sleep in Europe. We had some breakfast at the hotel, but if I’m being honest the only thing safe to eat was a croissant. We got on the bus for another hour ride to Florence.

When we arrived in Florence we had another guided tour which we skipped again. Some of my friends and I really wanted coffee so we looked up the best coffee place in Florence… and it was closed. A blessing though because we found the cutest place! I totally dropped the ball and didn’t get the name of it. When you walked in it was a bookstore with some tables to sit at. There was an upstairs loft area and there were books and art everywhere. We all ordered coffee shaken or something which is pretty much just a cafe fredo (cold coffee). We then headed out to the back outside area which was adorable. It had tapestries covering it so it was nice and cool. The workers were so nice and brought us our drinks and food. A few of my friends got crepes and I couldn’t resist and had to share a cream cheese and jam one. SO GOOD.

After our breakfast we walked around and went into some shops. We then made our way to the leather market. I did not like it there. It overwhelms me how everyone has the exact same things and everyone is so aggressive to get you to buy from them. I escaped from that and the same girls we had coffee with met at the duomo. It is BEAUTIFUL. So cool. We then walked to Coquinarius for lunch, one of the girls parents recommended. We went all out on this meal because we were so sick of hotel food, and eating at our apartment. We split a cheese and meat platter and a caprese salad. It was the freshest mozzarella I’ve ever had. For our main course I split the best pasta it was truly a heavenly experience. I think I shed a tear. It was a ricotta and pear raviollini in a butter sauce. The staff was also so nice to us I recommend this place!

Dress- Urban Outfitters, Shoes- Birkenstocks, Bag- Longchamp

I really wanted to see the statue David, but it slipped my mind to make a reservation. I probably went at the busiest time, and it was only like a 40 minute wait so not terrible. I was not disappointed with my decision at all. I am not usually the biggest fan of statues. David is so large which I knew, but when you see it in person you just wonder how on earth he made it. There is just so much extreme detail with the veins and his muscles. It seems like he could come to life and start walking around.

Once we went through the museum I kept thinking about these shoes I wanted so I decided I needed to go back and get them. I couldn’t come back home without Italian shoes, and what better place to buy them than Florence. I also got some gifts for some people and it was then time to get on the bus. I wish we could have stayed in Florence. It is a beautiful city. It is so much cleaner and quiter than Rome. There are barely any cars which I really liked and I found my way around easily.

When we got back I went to dinner, but didn’t really eat anything because I was still stuffed from lunch. All of us just went to the rooftop and hung out before bed because of course we had another early morning the next day.
