Bonjourno! I am currently writing from Rome, Italy where I am on a study abroad for six weeks. I am studying Advertising and Public Relations through Michigan State at the American University of Rome.
Sunday afternoon my parents drove me to the Detroit airport to drop me off for my 6:00pm flight. I didn’t really know anyone going on the trip so I was a little anxious, but also super excited.
I said goodbye to my parents before security. I quickly ran into some girls from my trip right when getting through security and we walked around until our flight. The flight was 9 hours, and we arrived in Rome at 9:00am their time. I slept maybe 2 hours on the plane and kept myself entertained by watching Dirty Dancing, Pretty in Pink, and The Greatest Showman.
When I arrived to Rome we quickly went through customs collected our bags and got on a bus that took us to our apartments. I have five other girls living in an apartment with me and share a room with one other girl. When we got to our apartment we unpacked, and then went to get a sim card for our phones so we could have data in Italy. We rode the tram to the store to get the cards. It is pretty packed and you see a lot of interesting things. They also don’t really check for passes which is different. We then went grocery shopping at a place right down the block from us.
That evening we went to the University to tour it and got this group picture from the rooftop.
After we had our first group dinner where we had brushetta, a fried rice and cheese thing, two types of pizza, two types of pasta, and dessert.
Two of my rommates and I then went out with some other girls from our group. We went to G-Bar to get wrist bands for this river boat. Not worth it!!! It was a super long walk and the boat was nothing special at all.
Outfit: Shirt and bag- H&M, Skirt- Madewell
It was a great first day in Italy!
